
Chris Malkinson started learning classical piano at the age of 7, and his subsequent interest in jazz, pop and rock music prompted him to study at Leeds College Of Music. After graduating in 1984, he worked in a variety of musical situations as keyboard player, pianist, and arranger. He was keyboardist and assistant musical director on the first UK tour of ‘What a Feeling’ with Irene Cara in 1996, and shortly after became a founder member of top band “Groovin’ High”, backing Tony Hadley and appearing with Bryan Adams. More recently he has toured as a member of The British Philharmonic Orchestra in ‘A Night At The Opera’ featuring Jonathan Ansell.
As a solo pianist he performed on leading cruise liners QE2 and Oriana, and has since enjoyed long standing residencies at The Savoy Hotel in The Strand, and Sopwell House in St. Albans.
Chris plays for many private parties and corporate events at top London venues such as The Lanesborough, The Berkeley, The Wallace Collection, and V & A museum. He has played for a function hosted by Sir Alan Sugar at The Dorchester, and regularly entertains at Searcy’s restaurant on the top floor of the ‘Gherkin’ building in the city.
